Sam was responsible for building SCC鈥檚 mutual fund franchise into the industry鈥檚 dominant player. One of his notable contributions to the industry was creation of telephone voting along with the procedures and technology which has become the standard today.

In 1993 he became Chief Operating Officer and began SCC鈥檚 acquisition and global expansion program. He oversaw the building of call centers in Canada, UK, Australia, Philippines and South Africa totaling 2000 seats. In the US he completed the acquisitions of Corporate Investors Communications and Georgeson to form Georgeson Shareholder Communications. These with other acquisitions lead to the consolidation of the proxy industry to create the largest shareholder engagement firm in the world. In 2003, Sam led the sale of Georgeson Shareholder to Computershare.
