Undeb ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ is your Students’ Union at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ, and we’re here to help you feel at home, get stuck in, and make the absolute most of your time here from day one. We represent over 10,000 students and support you through everything from academic advice and representation to sports, societies, volunteering, events, and loads of ways to get involved. As an independent charity, we work closely with the University to make sure your voice is heard, and your student experience is shaped by you, not just for you.
We’re also proudly bilingual and inclusive, and UMCB (Undeb Myfyrwyr Cymraeg ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ) is here to celebrate and promote the Welsh language, culture, and community across campus. Whether you’re fluent, learning, or just curious, you’re very welcome to join in.

Get involved
At ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ, there are more activities and sports than you can ever imagine; it's the perfect way to make friends, meet new people, and try something completely new.
Our biggest welcome event of the year, Serendipity, takes place during Welcome Week at the Brailsford Centre. You’ll find over 150 stalls run by student groups, university services, and local businesses, all ready to help you make the most of your time at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ. Expect plenty of freebies, exciting opportunities, and lots of information on how to get involved. It’s the perfect chance to explore your options, meet new people, and dive straight into student life.
Sports Clubs:
Whatever your passion, there’s a way to get active at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ. With over 68 sports clubs, you’ll find everything from traditional favourites like rugby and badminton to outdoor adventures such as surfing, paddle-boarding, or even something unique like underwater hockey (Octopush).
All clubs train in the University’s top-class sports facilities, and with our new Athletic Union membership passes, joining has never been easier. Choose between the Silver Pass or the Gold (BUCS Competitive) Pass, starting at just £50. This single payment gives you access to all sports clubs, so you can try as many as you like and discover new passions throughout the year.
Socieities:
³ÉÈËÊÓƵ’s societies bring people together; with over 100 to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Whether it’s academic and course-related groups like LangSoc and ZooSoc, cultural and international societies, or hobby-based clubs like the Film Society, there’s always a welcoming space to meet new friends and explore your interests.
For just £10, you can get a Society Membership, giving you unlimited access to all societies for the year, perfect for students who love getting involved and trying new things.
Making a difference with volunteering:
In your free time, you can get involved with Student Volunteering ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ, which contributes an impressive 2,600 hours each year to community projects.
Volunteering is a fantastic way to give back, meet new friends, and gain valuable experience that can boost your future career.
With over 30 different projects to choose from, there’s something for everyone - all organised under a variety of categories to match your interests and skills.
Academic Support and Representation
At Undeb ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ, we’re committed to helping you succeed academically and make your voice count. Our Academic Advice Service offers confidential support on any academic issues, while our team of School Representatives (School Reps) play a key role in shaping the student learning experience at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ.
Becoming a School Rep is a fantastic way to get involved, make a difference, and develop valuable skills for your future career. School Reps are student volunteers who represent the academic interests of their peers within their School. They review and analyse student feedback submitted through a centralised online form, identify key themes, and work collaboratively with university staff to find solutions and improvements.
Reps attend Staff-Student Liaison Committees (SSLiCs) to share student perspectives and help drive positive change. It’s a chance to influence real decisions, gain leadership and communication experience, and ensure that students’ voices are heard across the University.
Whether you’re passionate about improving the student experience or looking to build confidence and employability skills, being a School Rep is a rewarding and impactful way to get involved from your first year.
